Mackenzie grew up in the small town of Williamsburg, Iowa. She played for Williamsburg High School where she helped lead the basketball team to its first two State Tournament appearances in school history. She was a 4- sport athlete and held 14 school records when graduating.
After high school she played basketball at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. In the summers she starting developing her coaching skills through softball and basketball skills workouts. While at Bradley, she majored in Actuarial Science and also served as a team captain for two years.
She was awarded Outstanding Actuarial Graduate along with garnering First Team Academic All-Conference awards her senior year for basketball.
Following college, she pursued a basketball career in Loughborough, England. While there she completed her Master's Degree in Finance and Management while coaching Division 2 and volunteering at local schools. On the court, she helped lead her team to a Final Four appearance in her first year, and a National Title in her second year for the Leicester Riders Women's Team. She also was apart of the Loughborough Student Riders BUCs Championship in her first year.
In 2014 Mackenzie moved back to West Des Moines, Iowa to work as an actuary and founded Repeat Performance to give back to the game of basketball. She serves Eastern and Central Iowa and can be found watching a sports game, playing sand volleyball, or with her family.
